US AND ISRAEL ARE COMMITTING WAR CRIMES IN IRAN!
PROTEST RAYTHEON’S PART IN THE MURDER AND AGGRESSION!
Between 2017-25, US arms firm Raytheon (RTX Corporation) has awarded multi-million dollar contracts at its Glenrothes site to produce key components for its Tomahawk missile system.
Tomahawks have been deployed by the US in its illegal attack on Iran. The missiles were used in Trump’s hideous bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Tehran, slaughtering 168 souls, most of them schoolgirls.
Raytheon in Glenrothes manufacture electronic guidance parts for the Tomahawk, amounting to between 2.9% – 4.4% of the missile system, a vital part of the company’s supply chain.
A 2021 report by Campaign Against the Arms Trade (CAAT) showed that “Glenrothes was the only Raytheon facility outside North America to play a part in the US-sold Tomahawk Missile production and is the sixth most involved of the 25-plus factories contributing to the weapon system”.
First Minister John Swinney has said there can be no Scottish Government support for military actions taken in violation of international law. The unprovoked joint US-Israel assault on Iran – a sovereign state – has no such legal authority.
The production of weaponry used in this illegal attack must, likewise, be regarded as part of that crime.
It is appalling that a key element of this missile production is happening here in Scotland. The Raytheon site at Glenrothes has also been implicated in the criminal bombing of Yemen by Saudi Arabia, a major client.
As with its direct military and political support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza, the UK Government are deeply involved in this illicit attack on Iran. Starmer must immediately suspend the export of these components.
And while the licensing of such weaponry remains a UK matter, the Scottish Government must take all possible action against Raytheon in legal and moral response to its part in these atrocities.
As the horrific US-Israeli aggression against Iran continues, murdering thousands, displacing millions, and plunging the region and world at large into deeper crisis, we need to act in emergency ways to help stop the production, movement and deployment of all Tomahawk weaponry.
